Different Types of Natural Stone Flooring
The main types of stone floor tiles we work with are:
- Limestone – a form of sedimentary rock, light in colour and soft, full or character.
- Travertine – often favoured in a tumbled finish, with a worn aged texture and earth-tone colours.
- Marble – available in an array of colours and hues with unique veining, marble is stunning on an entranceway or bathroom floor.
- Slate – comes in a range of rustic colours, Black slate flooring is especially eye-catching when sealed and polished to a glossy finish.
- Sandstone –this sedimentary rock is attractive when laid both inside and out.

Achieving a Perfectly Finished Floor
Preparation is key to perfection for any natural stone or ceramic tiled floor. We can lay stone tiles expertly on just about any floor with optimum results with the right surface preparation. Over-boarding and self-levelling may well be required.
When tiling on timber or old, damaged floors that have movement, it is essential that we install a decoupling underlay before tiling.
All our natural stone floors are sealed twice to guard the stone surface against staining, while still allowing the stone to breath. A final finishing wax is applied to the surface to enhance the colour and add a second layer of protection.
We use Rocatex adhesives for our tiling with matching grout. If required we are approved installers of technically advanced ThermoSphere underfloor heating systems, which are safely fitted under the tiling by qualified electricians.
